Molly McCall | Lives and works in California

For more than a decade, Molly McCall’s artwork has explored the ephemeral nature of memory and the fragile imprint of the natural world. Moving fluidly between photography, painting, drawing, and collage, her practice opens poetical and dreamlike spaces where myth, material, and remembrance intertwine. Through her works, McCall invites viewers into visual worlds that echo the shifting nature of memory itself—at once fragile, layered, and luminous.

Guided by intuition and curiosity, McCall draws from her two decades in the textile and fashion industry, where color, tactility, and repetition became second nature. Those influences remain present in her art today, where each work is built through layers—fragments of the handmade, traces of the photographic, and materials that themselves carry history.

Her recent series, One in the Sameness and Arcadia: From Memory to Memory, continue her inquiry into how memory is preserved and transformed. Whether through vintage book covers, botanical transfers, or the luminous shimmer of gold leaf, McCall’s works turn remnants into reliquaries, expanding personal memory into landscapes of shared imagination.

Her award-winning imagery has been exhibited nationally and internationally at the Klompching Gallery, Houston Center for Photography, Griffin Museum of Photography, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Los Angeles Center of Photography, and Barcelona Foto Biennale, among many others. Her work has also been featured in Architectural Digest, Analog Forever, Diffusion, Oxford American, Foto Nostrum, Carmel Magazine, and Town.

Molly McCall lives and works in Carmel Valley, California, with her husband, auto-moto historian and aficionado Gordon McCall, and their two German Shorthaired Pointers, Emma and Willy.
